Recently, a clip of XXXTENTACION talking about his relationship with his father has been going viral. Every comment I saw was calling him corny or cringe. I even suggested this topic to my good brother BlackySpeakz (who told me personally that he would look into it) on Instagram because I had my thoughts on it.
The same people calling X corny in 2025 were probably calling him a legend in 2018-2019. What’s funny to me is that my peers let themselves get peer-pressured by 11-12-year-old white kids on the internet who listen to untalented artists like Nettspend and XavierSoBased rappers who, in my opinion, should just leave this rap shit alone and clock in at Burger King.
The problem with my peers (Gen-Z) is that we are all fucking spoiled brats who don’t know anything about loyalty, honor, and integrity. You see it in relationships, friendships, and now even in the way they switch up on the artists they once praised. But me? I’ll keep listening to X, regardless of what y’all say. I’d rather enjoy real talented music than force myself to pretend this fake underground wave is hot just to fit in.
